LESSON 1 · Live With Intention
Mindfulness and Emotion
Mindfulness does not suppress emotions. It creates space between feeling an emotion and acting on it. Observing anger without becoming anger — noticing the sensation without being hijacked by it — is among the most valuable skills the practice builds.
The mechanism is physical. Mindfulness strengthens the link between the prefrontal cortex and the amygdala, so the rational brain can steady emotional reactions. The result is not flatness but emotional intelligence: the ability to feel fully while choosing your response.
