LESSON 5 · Live With Intention

Beyond Postmodernism

Many contemporary thinkers argue we have moved past postmodernism into what some call metamodernism — a position that takes postmodern critiques seriously while trying to rebuild shared meaning rather than only deconstruct it.

This approach swings between modernist sincerity and postmodern irony, between commitment and skepticism. It accepts that all truths are constructed while insisting that some constructions serve human flourishing better than others. Postmodernism's lasting contribution is not relativism but vigilance — the habit of asking whose interests are served by any claim to truth.
