LESSON 2 · The Quest for Meaning

Building Daily Purpose

Ikigai is not found in a single moment of revelation. It is built through consistent attention to what energizes you and what drains you. The Japanese treat purpose as something cultivated over years, not unlocked overnight.

Start by noticing patterns in your week. Which conversations leave you energized? Which tasks make you lose track of time? These signals point toward your ikigai — which often hides in activities you already do. You do not need to reinvent yourself, just to pay closer attention to what already gives your days meaning.
