The Power of No

Saying no is uncomfortable because humans are wired to avoid social friction. But every time you say yes to avoid a moment of awkwardness, you commit hours, days, or weeks of your finite life to something you do not care about.

Warren Buffett credits most of his success not to the investments he made, but to the thousands he declined. The essentialist treats commitment like a closet: if you would not buy it today at full price, get rid of it. Saying no is saying yes to what matters most.
