LESSON 6 · What Makes Us Happy?
The Will to Power
Nietzsche's most misunderstood concept is the will to power. It is not simply a desire to dominate other people, though power and overcoming are part of the idea. It describes a drive to expand, grow, overcome resistance, and express force more fully. A tree pushing through rock is will to power. A musician mastering a difficult piece is will to power.

Nietzsche believed that humans are happiest not when comfortable but when overcoming obstacles. Comfort makes you soft. Challenge makes you alive. The joy of climbing a mountain is not in reaching the top — it is in the struggle against gravity.
