LESSON 6 · What Makes Us Happy?

Creating Your Own Values

Nietzsche declared that traditional moral systems — especially those based on guilt and self-denial — were designed to keep strong individuals obedient. He called this slave morality: a system that makes virtues out of weakness and vices out of strength.

His alternative was not chaos. It was a person who creates their own values from life-affirming principles rather than inherited guilt. This means taking full responsibility for who you become — no blaming society, no hiding behind tradition. The values you live by become a deliberate choice, not an accident of birth.
