Living with Fluid Identity

The Ship of Theseus challenges the assumption that identity must be binary — that you are either the same person or not. Reality may be more nuanced: identity exists on a spectrum of continuity rather than as an all-or-nothing fact.

This offers practical wisdom. You can admit you have changed profoundly since childhood without denying continuity, allow yourself to grow without rejecting your past self, and extend forgiveness — to others and yourself — by recognizing that the person who did the harm may no longer truly exist. The question "are you still you?" has no final answer, and that may be the point.
