Ensemble Dynamics
Ensemble films spread character development across many protagonists, building a web of arcs that comment on each other. The Breakfast Club works because each character is a different response to the same pressure: parental expectation.
Films like Ocean's Eleven and Knives Out manage big casts by giving each character one defining trait, turned up loud. With little screen time, every character has to communicate identity instantly. The risk is coherence: if one character's journey contradicts the film's central idea, the audience senses something is off even when they cannot say what.
