Reciprocity Creates Safety

Two-way feedback agreements transform peer feedback from awkward to expected. Approach a trusted colleague: "Would you be open to us giving each other honest feedback regularly?" This mutual commitment creates a safe container. Neither person is the critic — both are accountability partners.

When a peer reacts defensively, do not push harder. Say "I might be seeing this wrong — take it for what it's worth" and let them process. Unlike a manager who can require change, you have no authority to insist.
