Why Zeno Still Matters

Zeno's paradoxes are not historical curiosities. They continue to shape modern thought:

• Calculus, once it arrived, gave the first rigorous answer to them — and went on to transform all of science
• Computer science faces Zeno-like problems with infinite loops and halting conditions
• Supertask theory explores whether infinitely many actions can be completed in finite time
• The paradoxes remind us that intuition and logic can violently disagree

Zeno may have been wrong about motion, but he was right that our basic concepts of space, time, and infinity need far more scrutiny than common sense provides.
