Labor Market Flexibility
Nordic countries combine strong worker protections with remarkable labor market flexibility. The Danish "flexicurity" model makes hiring and firing relatively easy while providing up to 90% of previous salary for two years to displaced workers, plus free retraining.

This approach lets companies adapt quickly to changing conditions without trapping workers in dying industries. Government-funded retraining helps workers move into growing sectors, so periods of unemployment tend to be short.
