Can Others Copy It?
Can other countries replicate the Nordic model? The answer is complicated and context-dependent. Small, homogeneous populations with deep democratic traditions created conditions that may not transfer easily to larger, more diverse nations.
Still, specific Nordic policies have been adopted successfully elsewhere. Universal pre-K, generous parental leave, and active labor market programs work well in many settings. The trick is adapting principles, not copying whole systems.
Countries that try Nordic-inspired policies report gains in social mobility, public health, and trust in government.
