Where Bargaining Works
In most English-speaking countries, prices are fixed at stores, supermarkets, and restaurants. But bargaining is welcome at flea markets, car dealerships, antique shops, and when hiring freelancers.

The cultural rule is simple: if the item has a printed price tag in a chain store, the price is firm. If you are at a market, garage sale, or independent shop, negotiation is expected.
