LESSON 5 · Write It Right

The Hook-Story-CTA Formula

Many effective posts follow a simple structure: hook, story, call-to-action.

The hook is your first line — it should slow the scroll. "I got rejected from 47 jobs before landing my dream role" is a hook. "Sharing my career journey" is not.

The story is two or three short paragraphs with specific details. "We cut our onboarding from 3 weeks to 5 days" beats "We made onboarding better."

The call-to-action gives readers something to do, like "What's the best opening line you've ever read?"
