The Reconnection Ritual

Create a consistent way to reconnect after hard moments. Some families use a special handshake. Others have a phrase: "Are we okay?" The specific ritual matters less than its consistency.

A predictable ritual gives the child a reliable signal that the rupture is over and the relationship is back on solid ground. Over time, that repeated cue does more than any single conversation: it makes repair feel automatic and safe.
