LESSON 5 · Tantrum Survival Guide

Normal Versus Warning Signs

All children have tantrums. That is non-negotiable biology. But certain patterns deserve a closer look. Frequency matters: many intense meltdowns a day, well past the toddler years, sits outside the usual range. Duration and intensity matter too.

Another signal is recovery time. Typical tantrums resolve relatively quickly once the child is regulated. If your child remains dysregulated for extended periods or seems genuinely unable to stop, the tantrum may reveal an underlying regulation challenge.
