LESSON 5 · Manage Energy, Not Time

The Coffee Nap Hack

The coffee nap sounds contradictory but is backed by several studies. Drink a cup of coffee, then lie down for a 15-20 minute nap. Caffeine takes about 20 minutes to reach peak effect, so you wake up just as it kicks in.

It works because sleep clears adenosine, the drowsiness molecule, from your brain receptors. The caffeine then arrives to find clean receptors to block, making its effect even stronger. In one study, this combo cut driving errors more than coffee or a nap on its own.
