The Loyalty Triangle
When you marry someone, you enter a loyalty triangle between your partner, their parents, and yourself. In healthy families, the couple bond takes priority without severing the parent bond.

The most common mistake: fighting your in-laws directly. That forces your partner to choose sides, which breeds resentment no matter who they pick. The boundary conversation belongs between you and your partner first. They need to be the one setting limits with their own family.
