LESSON 4 · Deeper, Richer, Magnetic

Your Four Gears

Registers are not just a singer thing — they shape how you speak too:

  • Chest voice — your power gear. Warm, authoritative, grounded. Carries most conversation
  • Head voice — your range gear. Lighter and higher, great for expressive lift
  • Mixed voice — both at once. Carries far without the heaviness of chest or the thinness of head
  • Vocal fry — the low, crackly bottom edge, where the folds flop loosely

Most people drive only in chest gear all day — and never feel the rest of their range.
