The Bridge Technique
When asked about a topic you know nothing about, use the bridge technique: acknowledge the question, bridge to what you do know, then speak to your strength. "That's a great question — what I can speak to from my experience is..." This keeps you honest while still contributing value.

Politicians use the bridge constantly — sometimes too much. The key is transparency. Acknowledge you're shifting, explain why, and deliver genuine value on the topic you bridge to. Done well, this looks thoughtful. Done poorly, it looks evasive.
