Preemptive Conversations

Preemptive conversations address potential conflicts before they emerge. When you see a decision will disappoint someone, talk to them before the announcement. When two teammates show friction, bring them together before tension crystallizes into a public fight.

The script: "I want to bring something up while it is still small. I have noticed [observation], and I want us to address it before it becomes bigger. What is your perspective?" This prevents more conflicts than any resolution technique.
