LESSON 7 · Speak Up at Work
When the Door Gets Closed
Sometimes your manager blocks a good idea, an ask, or a project you own. The shutdown is rarely personal. It is politics, risk, or priorities you cannot see from your seat.
Your job is not to fight harder. It is to route around the block without burning the relationship.
When one path closes, open a second one. Build quiet ties to cross-functional partners who see your work directly. Their support reaches rooms your boss does not control.
When advocacy is blocked, lean on proof people can see without asking — a shipped dashboard, a shared doc, a retro your boss was copied on.
