Extend the loop beyond your manager. Ask peers, direct reports, and cross-functional partners the same question quarterly. Your manager sees strategic thinking, your peers see collaboration style, and your reports see leadership in a way only they can.

Schedule a dedicated video call, share your evidence doc, and ask: "What would it take for me to reach the next level within six months?" Then capture the answer in writing so the criteria can't quietly drift.
