LESSON 7 · Manage Energy, Not Time

The Focus Rollercoaster

When you eat simple carbs like white bread, candy, or sugary drinks, your blood sugar spikes and then crashes. The spike feels like energy. The crash feels like hitting a wall: brain fog, irritability, and cravings for more sugar. This rollercoaster is terrible for sustained focus.

  • Simple carbs: fast spike, fast crash
  • Complex carbs: gradual rise, steady energy, no crash
  • Protein, fat, and fiber: slow digestion and stabilize blood sugar for hours

The ideal work meal combines all three. Grilled chicken, vegetables, and brown rice will carry your afternoon focus.
