Idioms for Negotiations

Deal-making has its own idiom vocabulary. "Let's cut to the chase" means skip the pleasantries and get to business — use it when a meeting is running long. "Meet halfway" signals compromise: "They want full price, we want 20% off — can we meet halfway at 10%?" "Take it or leave it" sounds aggressive because it is, so reserve it for final offers. A softer version, "This is our best and final offer," carries the same meaning with less confrontation.
