LESSON 5 · Speak Up at Work
The Pre-Meeting Power Move
Spend 10 minutes before any important meeting reviewing the agenda and preparing one contribution: a question, a data point, or a perspective.
This kills the "I never got a chance to speak" excuse. Walk in with your line ready and you will find the moment to use it instead of scrambling to think on your feet.
Keep it tight. A useful contribution is forty words or fewer and ends with an opening: "Does that land, or am I missing something?" Brevity plus an invitation beats the rehearsed monologue every time.
