The Reframe Technique
Reframing is not positive thinking. It is accurate thinking with a wider lens. Three steps:
- Identify the current frame: "This feedback means I failed."
- Challenge the frame: What else could this mean? What would a neutral observer say?
- Reframe with a more useful truth: "This feedback shows me the next skill to practice."
The goal is not to pretend the situation is good. It is to choose the frame that is both honest and workable.
