A smaller copy made before the cuts
Painter **Gerrit Lundens** made a small copy of The Night Watch while it was still whole. When the original was trimmed in 1715, his copy became the only record of the lost edges — showing **two men and a child** on the left and an archway above that no longer exist on the canvas itself.
