Five Thousand Years

What makes Chinese art remarkable is not only its age but its internal consistency. Materials, forms, and aesthetic values evolved gradually over millennia, so a jade carving from 3000 BCE and a porcelain vase from 1400 CE feel like part of the same long conversation. Each dynasty refined an inherited vocabulary rather than discarding it — restraint, balance, and reverence for nature passed down almost unbroken.
